This Aboriginal Showcase & Art Market is a free Community event featuring traditional and contemporary performances along with an Art Market. We'll be kicking up our heels on Thursday, August 22nd. Where in the world is Yvonne these days? Victoria, BC! And tonight (Tuesday August 6), she'll be attending the opening reception of Remembering Amelia at Open Space (510 Fort Street).
Remembering Amelia celebrates the contributions of dance maverick Amelia Itcush, dance artist, teacher, fitness pioneer and one of the country's finest somatic movement analysts. Regina's New Dance Horizons has produced a touring exhibition and a series of movement workshops to honour Itcush, which will touch down at Open Space in Victoria, BC from August 6 to 10.
As has become annual tradition, Yvonne has returned to the Métis homeland for Back to Batoche Days. In addition to all the fiddling, jigging, food, games and fun, this year's celebrations included the historic return of Marie-Antoinette, the bell that had been claimed as a war trophy in 1884, at the Battle of Batoche.
