If you read yesterday's post, you know that V'ni Dansi has a new home. That's the result of a pretty big change here at V'ni Dansi: in January, Kaen Séguin was hired as the company's first full-time General Manager. For three months, Kaen worked with LeftRight Minds' Allyson McGrane, who had been V'ni Dansi's Administrative Director since 2005. For another three months, we continued to share office space with LeftRight Minds until finding our own sweet space.
We are very honoured to be invited to share our Métis culture with Trout Lake and Fort Langley audiences. But the real question is, how many other events can we also fit in? So much to do! But we're sure the Raven Spirit Fundraiser, featuring Wayne Lavellee and Angela Harris, is going be to a great show!
Whatever you choose to do, we hope you and your family have a happy, healthy, and all-around wonderful Aboriginal Day!
Yvonne has just finished almost 2 weeks of working with Michael Greyeyes and Signal Theatre on a new creation titled A Soldier's Tale. I know I'm looking forward to hearing all about it! But our favourite jet-setter isn't done yet... She's in Saskatoon now, working with Maria Campbell; She'll be performing in tomorrow's "Half-Breed Ball" (or Aen ball Metif). Be sure to tell your prairie friends - it's sure to be a heckuva fun night!
V'ni Dansi's Madelaine McCallum and Eloi Homier will be joining the festivities at the 5th Annual Aboriginal Celebrations - a block party at 4th and Columbia in Vancouver, happening this Saturday, June 15. They'll be joined by fiddler Keith Hill for what promises to be another fun event!
